Spotify for iPad launches: impressions and a visual tour of the new app
It's here. After all the rumors, leaks and false alarms, Sweden's top music streaming service is finally ready for the big(ger) screen. Spotify has landed on the iPad, and not surprisingly, the new app is a no-brainer of a download for anyone currently in possession of a premium account and an Apple tablet, -- that much we can say right off the bat. But how well did the company harness the capabilities of the magical device, and is the whole thing worth the wait? We got some fingers-on with the app -- follow along after the break.

T-Mobile Prism leaked: entry-level Huawei smartphone to launch in May
While the design (and even the briefing slides) scream affordable, we're sure there must be some Big Magenta customers aching for a keenly-priced smartphone fix. So here's the Prism. Huawei's behind that T-Mobile face, cooking up a Android Gingerbread phone with a pretty weedy 600MHz processor and a 3.5-inch (480 x 320) touchscreen. A fixed-focus (yeah) 3.2-megapixel camera pokes out the back, while a microSD slot means you can extend space for those vaguely-almost-in-focus shots -- the Prism arrives with a 2GB card already onboard. The phone looks set for a May 6th release date and TmoNews has several more slides with some extra launch details -- you can check them out at the source below.

Raleigh Retail Debt Collection Lawyer | North Carolina Commercial ...
April 30, 2012
Whether you are a startup or an established company with hundreds of outstanding accounts receivable, the collection of AR and other unpaid debts is a major factor in the success of your business. Failure to collect on accounts can leave you scrambling to meet your own financial obligations, including payroll, taxes, and other employee expenses. With a struggling economy, ?demand letters and other tactics employed by commercial collection agencies are becoming less and less effective. ?More aggressive measure by collection agencies are limited by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (which law firms are not subject to) and the North Carolina Collection Agency Act. ?In reality, the most effective tool used by collection agencies is the threat of litigation and many debtors will wait until a lawsuit is initiated before even responding.Fortunately, many commercial collections can be done efficiently using civil litigation. The Raleigh debt collection attorneys of Maginnis Law can assist you through that process. Our creditor lawyers regularly appear in Wake County District and Superior Courts and are able to handle collections in the surrounding counties as well. To speak with the firm, contact attorney Shawn Howard at 919.480.8526 or Ed Maginnis at 919.526.0450. For confidential email inquiries, please use our contact page.
The debt collection process for consumer debts in North Carolina is relatively uncomplicated. ?Litigation is initiated by filing a Complaint and Summons in District or Superior Court. The consumer is then served with a copy of each and, if he or she fails to file a response within thirty (30) days, the creditor may apply for entry of default and default judgment. Afterwards, the debtor will have the opportunity to claim certain property as exempt from seizure. The sheriff may then be utilized to seize other remaining assets to satisfy the amount of the judgment. In many cases, the debtor will simply agree to a settlement that allows you to recover some, if not all, of the outstanding debt.
Of course, not all collections involve straight-forward consumer debts. Many situations are more complicated and involve possible defenses and counterclaims. Because Maginnis Law is not just another volume collections practice, and we have an active complex litigation practice, we have the experience and skill necessary to guide you through such litigation. We regularly represent general contractors, subcontractors, architects, and others involved in the construction industry when there are questions regarding not only payment of amounts owed but the quality and timeliness of the work provided. ?Aside from construction, defenses and counterclaims also arise frequently in any service industry.
Whether you have a straight-forward consumer debt to collect or a more complicated dispute such as in construction, the attorneys of Maginnis Law can help. We are able to represent companies in any number of industries, such as insurance, banks, staffing agencies, finance companies, credit unions, and mortgage companies. We offer free consultations to all creditors looking for representation. Our firm is also able to operate under a number of billing arrangements, including hourly, flat rate, and contingency. We can also use a mix of any of these arrangements if that better fits your business?s needs.
Maginnis Law regularly represents creditors in and around the Triangle Area, including Raleigh, Cary, Durham, Chapel Hill, Morrisville, Apex, Wake Forest, Sanford, and Fayetteville. If you need assistance collecting on an unpaid accounts receivable or even a single account, contact the Raleigh creditor attorneys of Maginnis Law at 919.480.8526 or 919.526.0450.

3 Tricks to Make Your Retirement Last to Your 100th Year ...
by Cynthia S. Ellner on April 30, 2012
Living to your 100th birthday may sound attractive, but will your retirement funds last that long? It?s not unusual to reach the 100-year mark, and if you do you?ll need about a 40-year fund to ensure a sound financial future, especially with the high cost of living in Southern California. One long-term illness could significantly reduce your retirement plan, so it?s better to overshoot the mark by a few years. When developing your long-term plan, consider the following:
- List all sources of income. Do you have part-time income? Residual income? Include the amount you receive from Social Security, the minimum withdrawals from other investment accounts, pensions and annuities. Look at your yearly retirement expenses and allow for inflation of all costs over time.
- Cut, cut, cut. If you?ve scaled back your work or stopped working altogether, cut your expenses. Any work-related costs, such as higher car insurance, suits or uniforms for your job, expensive dinners to entertain clients are all unnecessary retirement expenses now. Don?t keep spending as if you were still working.
- Consider scaling back your residence. If you?ve lived in a big sprawling house with big sprawling bills, can you downsize and bank the profit? Keeping the family home is wonderfully sentimental, but if grown children aren?t making use of the space, hanging onto something for sentimentality instead of investing a profit makes little sense. A home is not a liquid asset that can be used in case of a retirement emergency, and lenders may not be willing to give seniors a home equity loan without visible means of paying it back.

Must See HDTV (April 30th - May 6th)
Mayweather/Cotto
While its not the Mayweather/Pacquiao boxing match fans want to see, this is the fight we have. Miguel Cotto believes he's in position to send Floyd Mayweather Jr. home with his first ever loss and surprisingly, some boxing experts agree with him. We'll see if Cotto's strength is enough to overcome Mayweather's speed and defensive prowess, but as usual, the story here is the fight that's not on the card.

NBA Playoffs
A knee injury to Chicago's Derrick Rose has significantly shifted the balance of power in this year's NBA Playoffs. While the Bulls suddenly have to try and win without their superstar, the triumvirate down in Miami is suddenly under even more pressure to get the job done with two of the Eastern Conference's best players (Rose, Dwight Howard) out for the season. Out west the early games showed it will be a battle no matter what seeds are matching up, your guess is as good as ours as to who will come out of that conference and vie for the title in a few weeks.
