But as the hours passed, three reactions proved predominant, and conservatives began to coalesce around them. These three came from GOP Governors, the House leadership, and the very Tea Party that James Carville had pronounced dead earlier this week.
The governors, for their part, said they will ignore the Obamacare ruling at least until the November elections have passed. They wisely believe that the decision, and the legislation it upheld, will ?drive voters to dump President Obama in favor of Mitt Romney who has vowed to kill? Obamacare.
The House leadership reacted by announcing that they will hold a vote to repeal Obamacare after their July 4 recess. They?ve planned the vote for July 11, knowing that a successful House vote on repeal will create an opportunity to take the Senate in November and give President Romney the repeal he will ask for on day one.
Lastly, the Tea Party made it clear, ?The Supreme Court ruled against the American people today? We are putting all politicians on notice that we will not rest until this law is overturned in its entirety.? And anyone who doubts the Tea Party?s tenacity in doing what they say they?ll do need only look at what they did to Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) or the Wisconsin unions earlier this year. (Or you could always look at the significant number of former office holders who got their pink slips in November 2010.)
The bottom line: Conservatives are looking to November to set things straight. ?

Former Medicaid and Medicare director Donald Berwick says few states were likely to reject the Medicaid funds despite the court's decision.
By M. Alex Johnson, msnbc.com
Updated at 7:04 p.m. ET: Now that the Supreme Court has upheld President Barack Obama's health care initiative, will Congress have to rewrite it from scratch?
It's not a paradoxical question. The court signed off on nearly all of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, but it struck down one provision, and in doing so ? whether it knew it or not ? it may have put the poorest Americans at the greatest risk of being left without any health insurance.
Chief Justice John Roberts said as part of the 5-4 decision that states can't be penalized for refusing to join the law's expansion of Medicaid eligibility. Health law experts said that had the practical effect of flipping an all but mandatory program into one a state can choose not to join.
Here's the problem: The ACA creates state health insurance "exchanges," providing tax credits to eligible residents to buy affordable, state-certified health insurance. But the poorest Americans aren't in that eligible pool, because the law assumes they'll be covered by the expansion of Medicaid, which is no longer a given.?
In states that reject the expansion, poor residents could be left without either form of coverage ? as many as 15 million if all 50 states opt out, a circumstance that former Medicaid director Donald Berwick said was highly unlikely.
The White House didn't address the issue in a long Q&A it issued on the court's decision. The statement touted every provision of the act but one: Medicaid expansion.
Medicaid currently covers only some low-income people, primarily parents with children, pregnant women, people with severe disabilities and senior citizens. Adults without disabilities or children, in other words, aren't generally covered. That's the group the Medicaid expansion was supposed to help the most.
Supreme Court upholds health care mandate
Obama calls ruling victory for US; Romney vows to repeal
After the ruling: Lots left to do on health reform
Full ruling from the court
If their states opt out, young working adults below the poverty line could be in a Catch-22, because "they may not get Medicaid, and they may not be eligible to purchase insurance through the exchange," said Christina S. Ho of the Rutgers University School of Law, who was a member of President Bill Clinton's Domestic Policy Council.?
It works this way:
The insurance tax credits are targeted at people with incomes between 100 percent and 400 percent of the poverty line as determined by the U.S. Census Bureau. Congress sought to compel the states to cover everyone under the line through Medicaid.
The federal government promised to fully cover all expenses for the expanded coverage before eventually pulling back to cover 90 percent after a few years. The states would have to pick up the extra 10 percent eventually.
States aren't required to take part, but if they don't, the law as enacted would have turned off the flow of all Medicaid funding from Washington.?
That enforcement mechanism is what the court invalidated Thursday, meaning there's no penalty for a state that says, "Thanks, but no thanks."
Twitter reactions to the ruling
Because states haven't had time to consider yet whether they will opt in or out. it's difficult to say how many people could be affected.?
But about half of the nearly 50 million uninsured Americans have incomes below the new eligibility thresholds, according to the latest report, in October, from the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured. And about 6 in 10 of them are adults without dependent children ? the primary beneficiaries of the program's expansion.
If you do the math, roughly 15 million Americans could be in the newly created gray area. In 2010, when the act was passed, the Commonwealth Fund, an independent health care policy foundation, similarly calculated that the Medicaid expansion would benefit 12 million of the 15 million uninsured Americans under the poverty line.?
Donald Berwick, former head of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which administers the two programs, said few states were likely to take that risk.
"Those people are still living in your state, They're still poor. They're going to come to your emergency room. They're going to be operated on, and they're going to have diseases that get worse, and you're going to have to pay for that. That will come from the state ? free care pools and charity in the state," Berwick said in an interview on MSNBC-TV.?
"I think what's going to happen is the states are going to be under pressure from providers of care who say: 'Why are you leaving this money on the table? Let's join in with the federal dollars.'"
But Judy Solomon, vice president for health policy at the nonpartisan Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, agreed with Ho that the decision means low-income adults could lose the promise of Medicaid coverage "even while people with somewhat higher incomes will be eligible for premium tax credits."?
Writing on the center's policy blog, Solomon said: "The poorest adults ? primarily parents and other adults working for low wages ? will be left out in the cold."

Research shows that dogs are just as likely as humans to get skin cancer, and that a third of all tumours in canines are sun-related. But since our suncream contains a chemical that is toxic to dogs there has never been a solution to the problem? until now.
An American pet-care company has developed a range of canine-friendly sunblocks which prevent sunburn, each carrying a UV-busting strength equivalent to a human suncream of factor 15. Petkin sunscreen comes as a mist, a stick or wipes (very handy) and will be available to purchase in Britain in two weeks.

Happy Google I/O week! Why not celebrate with a giant jelly bean or 12? The search giant clearly has some big, colorful plans for later this week, including, perhaps, another entry in its delicious parade of lawn-cluttering mobile operating system dessert foods. The above statue was spotted and posted to the Google Developers page on Google+, and it surely amounts to more than just a belated Easter celebration. We'll no doubt be hearing a lot more on the subject from Google -- and the American Dental Association -- in the days to come.

Do you remember the last time you bought a car? You might first start by researching brands and models that interest you. You might seek out information on the internet, read consumer reports, and listen to what trusted advisors say about the car. You might check safety ratings and if there were any major recalls.? A test drive is also important.? Ultimately you want to know everything about that item before investing several thousands of dollars.? Ultimately, you depend on the information provided to be complete and accurate.
The investor relation?s picture is no different.? As prospective shareholders seek to invest dollars, complete and accurate company disclosures on value and performance become key component of that decision.
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has developed a draft human capital standard that is intended to help investors evaluate the value of a company?s human capital.? The proposed standard titled, ?Human Resource Indices for Investors? is currently being developed for certification by the American National Standards Institute.
The standard would require publicly held companies to provide discussion and analysis in these five areas:
Bloomberg BNA reports that controversy surrounds this initiative.
Supporters of the initiative say, ?Establishing respected and durable measurements of human capital value that must be included in investor communications is crucial for presenting a full picture of the performance and wealth of an organization.?
Opponents of the initiative are skeptical that investors are even requesting this information. In addition, the HR Policy Association commented in a letter dated May 18, ?The members of our Association were taken aback that the Society of Human Resource Management would propose yet another significant new regulatory burden.?
Like most debated issues it is helpful to weigh the pros and cons before deciding. Here is a list highlighting some of the pros and cons of implementing such a standard.
The Pros:
The Cons:
SHRM has indicated they will reopen the standard up for additional comments after they incorporate the first round of suggestions. If you missed the first opportunity to make your voice heard like I did, stay tuned for round two.
In the meantime you decide: Is developing a human capital value standard for investors a good idea? ?Complete this short poll and share a comment with us.

David Segal of the New York Times takes an excellent look at what it's like to work in an Apple Store--an occupation that has become one of the favorite "McJobs" in our economy for hip college graduates.
The pay sucks (relatively), the stores are busy and crowded, and there's little upward mobility, so it's pretty much a dead-end job.
But 30,000 of the 40,000 Apple employees in the United States work in the stores, so this has now become the defining experience of working at the company.
And Apple is perceived as cool--much cooler than, say, McDonald's or Walmart or Starbucks--so the company is continually deluged with resumes. For every Apple Store employee who quits, disillusioned, after a couple of years, there are many more eager to take his or her place.
Apple picks a small percentage of lucky candidates from the stack, which are submitted online, of course, through Apple's web site. The company screens for "affability" and "self-directedness," not tech savvy: The latter can be learned; the former is innate. Then Apple invites everyone to a "seminar" in a conference room at a hotel.? If you're a few minutes late, you're eliminated.
The people who are offered jobs are often so happy that they burst into tears.
And then the real indoctrination starts.
Training lasts for a few days to a few weeks.
Check out David Segal's description of what happens when you arrive:
Training commences with what is known as a ?warm welcome.? As new employees enter the room, Apple managers and trainers give them a standing ovation. The clapping often bewilders the trainees, at least at first, but when the applause goes on for several lengthy minutes they eventually join in.
?My hands would sting from all the clapping,? says Michael Dow, who trained Apple employees for years in Providence, R.I.
There is more role-playing at Core training, as it?s known, this time with pointers on the elaborate etiquette of interacting with customers. One rule: ask for permission before touching anyone?s iPhone.
?And we told trainees that the first thing they needed to do was acknowledge the problem, though don?t promise you can fix the problem,? said Shane Garcia, the one-time Chicago manager. ?If you can, let them know that you have felt some of the emotions they are feeling. But you have to be careful because you don?t want to lie about that.?
The phrase that trainees hear time and again, which echoes once they arrive at the stores, is ?enriching people?s lives.? The idea is to instill in employees the notion that they are doing something far grander than just selling or fixing products. If there is a secret to Apple?s sauce, this is it: the company ennobles employees. It understands that a lot of people will forgo money if they have a sense of higher purpose.
This brainwashing, by the way, is extraordinarily successful, in many ways.
First, it allows Apple to pay its employees much less than they would make selling similar gear at Verizon stores or AT&T stores. (The average Apple Store employee makes about $30,000 a year. The average Verizon store employee gets nearly twice that.)
Second, it's great for customers--and, therefore, for Apple's reputation. More than 1 billion people have visited an Apple store--more than 80 million per quarter. Apple "specialists" (Apple's brilliant term for its retail salespeople) are often the only human from the company a customer will ever interact with. The fact that these folks have been trained in etiquette and feel a sense of mission is a huge asset to the company. There's nothing that will destroy a company's reputation and image faster than a cadre of salespeople who look like they'd rather be anywhere but in the store.
Perhaps in response to inquiries from the New York Times, Apple recently gave some of its store employees a raise--a decision for which the company deserves a lot of praise. It is rare in our economy for companies to pay employees more than they have to, and if our country is to recover from its slump, more companies have to do this.
Like other retailers, Apple can afford to pay its store employees more (Apple is now one of the most profitable companies in the world), so the company will barely miss the money.
The next problem Apple--and the rest of the country--needs to solve is how to make these jobs become (or, at least, lead to) more of an actual occupation.

To the Editor,
Re: Taxpayers deserve better treatment, Opinion, June 19.
I could not agree more with the title to Chris Bush?s article.
But Bush needs to understand that it is not productive to damn his daughter?s teachers with faint praise for their ?dedication and professionalism? and then go on to villainize the teachers? federation for the disruptions caused by Christy Clark?s unconstitutional legislation.
Without the B.C. Teachers? Federation, Bush needs to consider who exactly would defend his daughter?s right to a fully funded public education system.
The Fraser Institute? Not likely.
For this is exactly the government agenda: the more disruption it causes in the public system, the more attractive the privatized, for-profit system looks to disenchanted parents. After all, the privatized system offers everything a parent could desire: reasonable class sizes, modern technology and support for struggling students, and dedicated teachers who go the extra mile.
The last few months have clearly established that public school teachers already meet that last criteria; now if we could just convince government to be responsible and provide the rest, as is its duty.
Parents considering private school?
If so, please don?t blame the teachers? federation, for it believes you deserve those qualities in your public system, rather than paying twice to the taxpayer-funded private system.
The BCTF may be many things and may have many vested interests it supports.
But if it has a ?political agenda?, as Bush asserts, then this agenda is to defend and promote a fully funded public education system that has as its mandate the promoting of democracy, equality and tolerance for the rights of others and a fully literate and educated citizenry.
The federation has been very successful in meeting this challenge through the years, and if Bush cannot see this, then he needs to travel more.

WIMBLEDON, England (AP) ? Racket bag slung over her shoulder, resignation written across her face, Venus Williams weaved through fans milling about on the sidewalks that players must traverse to get from Court 2 to the Wimbledon locker rooms.
The 32-year-old Williams had just absorbed a lopsided first-round loss at the Grand Slam tournament she once ruled, a poor performance that raised questions about how much longer she will keep playing tennis while dealing with an energy-sapping illness.
She trudged by as her hitting partner, David Witt, was saying: "It's tough to watch sometimes. I think everybody sees it. I don't know what else to say."
Looking lethargic, and rarely showing off the power-based game that carried her to five Wimbledon titles and seven majors overall, Williams departed meekly Monday with a 6-1, 6-3 defeat against 79th-ranked Elena Vesnina of Russia. Only once before ? as a teenager making her Wimbledon debut in 1997 ? had Williams exited so early at the All England Club.
She hadn't lost in the first round at any Grand Slam tournament in 6? years. Still, Williams said she'll be at the London Olympics next month and is "planning" to be back at Wimbledon next year.
"I feel like I'm a great player," Williams said, sounding a tad like someone trying to convince herself.
She repeated that affirmation as she continued: "I am a great player. Unfortunately, I had to deal with circumstances that people don't normally have to deal with in this sport. But I can't be discouraged by that. ... There's no way I'm just going to sit down and give up just because I have a hard time the first five or six freakin' tournaments back."
Later, as part of a slightly testy and awkward exchange with reporters, Williams said: "I'm tough, let me tell you. Tough as nails."
Her loss, in her first match since a second-round ouster at the French Open, was part of an odd Day 1, even if the true tournament favorites in action won easily: Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova. Among those sent home were sixth-seeded Tomas Berdych, the 2010 runner-up at Wimbledon; 11th-seeded John Isner; No. 16 Flavia Pennetta; and No. 18 Jelena Jankovic, who was rather easily beaten 6-2, 6-4 by Kim Clijsters, a four-time major champion who has been beset by injuries in her last season on tour and, like Williams, is unseeded.
Other seeded losers: No. 23 Andreas Seppi, No. 24 Marcel Granollers and No. 27 Daniela Hantuchova of Slovakia, who was upset by 100th-ranked Jamie Hampton of the United States 6-4, 7-6 (1).
Truth be told, the biggest surprise might very well have been the way Isner ? the highest-ranked American man ? blew a match point, wasted a two-sets-to-one lead, dropped a tiebreaker on grass, and bid a 6-4, 6-7 (7), 3-6, 7-6 (7), 7-5 farewell to Wimbledon in the first round against 73rd-ranked Alejandro Falla of Colombia.
Then again, there's a pattern here.
It's the third consecutive major tournament that Isner leaves after a five-set loss, including 18-16 at the French Open against 261st-ranked Paul-Henri Mathieu. This from a guy who's best known for winning the longest match in tennis history, 70-68 in the fifth after more than 11 hours, against Nicolas Mahut at Wimbledon in 2010.
"I didn't put my opponent away. I had my chances, and I didn't do it. It's all on me. Was just not great on my part," said the 6-foot-9 Isner, who hit 31 aces to Falla's four. "I get out there sometimes, and lately it's happening quite a lot, and I get out there in the match and I'm just so clouded. I just can't seem to figure things out. I'm my own worst enemy out there. It's all mental for me, and it's pretty poor on my part."
Mental strength has long been viewed as Ernests Gulbis' weakness, because his strokes are as good as they come, but the 23-year-old from Latvia who is ranked 87th stood tall in a 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4) victory over Berdych.
"A lot of players mature later than others. Some mature at 15; some mature at 29. I hope it's somewhere in between; 23 is OK," Gulbis said. "If I hit the ball well, I hit stronger than everybody else. It is like this, you know. Maybe only couple guys hit the ball as strong as I do."
Used to be that Williams could say that when comparing herself to other top women. She and her younger sister Serena rewrote the way the game was played in the late 1990s and early 2000s, with 120 mph serves and ferocious forehands.
But Williams hasn't been that player for quite a while now. She announced in August that she had been diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome, an autoimmune disease that can cause fatigue and joint pain.
Her match against Vesnina was at Court 2, which was built three years ago; Serena complained about having to play on it in 2011. For years prior, the name "Court 2" was assigned to a venue about half the size and a few minutes' walk away, a place known as the "Graveyard of Champions" because of a series of stunning losses by top players: Serena, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe and Pete Sampras.
Care to guess where Serena is scheduled to play her first-round match Tuesday? Yep, that's right: Court 2.
The older Williams has played only 18 matches in 2012, going 12-6, and looked rather ordinary against Vesnina, who is more accomplished in doubles and never made it past the fourth round at a major tournament in singles.
"Of course I was scared. Not scared, but I was, like, aware of her serve. But I think she didn't serve that well today," said Vesnina, who recalled watching on TV when Williams beat Lindsay Davenport in the 2005 Wimbledon final.
"Maybe for her, it was not one of her best days," Vesnina said about Monday. "But for me, it was one of the best days."
Williams fell behind 5-0, and needed 30 minutes to win a single game. She got broken the first four times she served. She rolled her eyes or shook her head after missed shots. Her father pulled out his camera late in the second set and snapped some photos from the stands, maybe wondering right along with some spectators whether this might be Williams' last singles match at Wimbledon.
At her news conference, Williams was asked what will drive her, given the way she's struggling.
"Am I struggling?" Williams replied. "Am I?"

But where I am an agnostic theist, I also share the opinions of strong agnostics and apathetic agnostics. Strong agnosticism = "I do not know if deities exist or not, neither do you." Apathetic agnosticism = "No proof for or against, no one is right. But I could care less if they exist or not."
How do you feel about it?
PS: I dont want any "God doesnt exist is fact due to no evidence" because you cannot bring the evidence yourself against it as both sides are at the current time just opinions.

How to handle a long distance relationship?
Most of us are aware that the chances of a long distance relationship ending abruptly are very high. However, not many actually know how to save a long distance relationship.
No one actually starts a relationship just to have a relationship. Like any normal relationship, a long distance relationship might arise because two people who stay far apart meet on internet or become pen pals and it blossoms into something beautiful. Sometimes people who were together might have to move apart for a certain period of time because of work or other issues. No matter why you are in a long distance relationship it is important to know few things which will help you save your wonderful relationship that you have with partner. Here are some tips on how you can handle long term relationship?
? First and foremost find out why the relationship is most important. Remember just loving a person and not seeing any future in a relationship will not help you in anyways. Find a reason and make your resolve stronger. Only then can you really save anything in your life.
? Secondly try to be honest and open with your partner. Honesty is the best policy. If you have a problem or if you are not having a good day talk about it in every detail with your partner. This will encourage your partner to do the same with you. This way the bonds between you and your partner will become more and more stronger.
? Third thing is to establish a time where you both will talk to each other, each and every day. It is important that you respect that time. Only in unavoidable cases can you delay or skip the established time. But do not make it habit. Having an established time and committing to that time means both of you are ready to see your relationship to the end.
? The next thing to do is to have patience. If you do not have patience then long distance relationship is not for you. You need to have a lot of patience. You need to understand your partner and at the same time try to be the bigger person. As I said earlier if you do not have a firm resolve to save your relationship the strain might force you to break it up. So make your resolve firmer this will allow you to handle things calmly and patiently. Show that you are strong and this will give your partner the strength needed to carry on in a long distance relationship.
? Last but certainly not the least, do not give into temptation. Look if that relationship means anything then do not give into temptations. It is easy to hide things form your partner just because he or she is far away from you. Remember you reap what you sow, so try to be more mature and more firm in what you really want.
One must always remember the only way to make a long term relationship work is to try to find a solution so that you both can be together. If you do not see a future where you cannot be together then it is good to end it with honor. At least you will have a friend for your life. If you think you can be together and it is only a short time that you need to be away from your partner then try to do everything you can to make your relationship work.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) ? Unhappy wide receiver Percy Harvin has returned to Minnesota's practice after a brief absence following his request to be traded.
Harvin was on the field Thursday for the final portion of minicamp at Winter Park, taking part in all of the drills.
The fourth-year Vikings star said Tuesday that he's upset with the team about issues he refused to explain. He was present for Wednesday's walk-through but missing at the afternoon workout.
That came after word that Harvin wants to be dealt. General manager Rick Spielman then told reporters there is no plan to trade him.
Head coach Leslie Frazier said Wednesday he sees no reason why the situation can't be resolved.
