For years the University of La Verne has been a favorite choice of many students traveling from East Asia to the United States seeking to earn a college degree. University President Devorah Lieberman looks to strengthen and expand La Verne?s existing international relationships in the region during an extensive 15-day trip.
Accompanied by Dean of Admission Chris Krzak and Dean of the College of Business & Public Management Abe Helou, President Lieberman will travel more than 18,000 air miles while stopping in Thailand, Myanmar, and China. The group will visit several international schools, including the International School Bangkok, Thailand?s premier international school; the International Language & Business Centre, Yangon; the International School Yangon; I-Shou International School in Kaohsiung; and TAU in Beijing. At each there will be meetings with students as well as administrators, teachers and counselors.
In addition to the school visits, there will be additional engagements with prospective students and their parents, La Verne alumni, local governmental officials, U.S. citizens living abroad and American Embassy officials. Along with recruiting prospective students and providing extensive information about the University of La Verne and its numerous undergraduate and graduate degrees, the group will also discuss the overall advantages an American education provides.
Throughout the trip, President Lieberman will speak of the benefits provided by higher education in general and a U.S. liberal education, the importance of education in the global society, and the opportunities studying in the U.S. affords local communities when students return to their home countries.
